What a load of Ball-ocks (we don't swear on this website!) If we play like this in the season proper, we'll be lucky if we walk away with anything. (That's points not prizes).

The performance in our opening friendly was simply appalling. We struggled to get a team - fielding 10 for most of the game, showed absolutely no desire to win, hardly anyone looked bothered and when the goals went pouring in, a few of the defenders thought it was funny, well admittedly it was a bit of a joke!

Oh we can make excuses, a number of players were missing, but you've got to make the most of what you've got.

It didn't take long for Erskine to take the lead - just one minute in fact, when our make-shift defence, didn't defend the opening corner. Numbers two and three followed before half-time and we hadn't even tested their keeper.

Richie and Shirin had to depart at half-time. This was always going to be a worry as Richie was 80% of our vocal presence in the first half and Shirin was one of only two regular defenders playing. Things got predictably worse in the second half, the effort disintegrated to practically zero, although we did create more in the second half. Tom raced into the area and was brought tumbling down. The ref duly pointed to the spot and the question was who is going to take it ? Bearing in mind that no one managed to score a penalty last season. Pleasingly enough, Ed took responsibility, in what was about the only good thing to come from this friendly. He coolly tucked his effort away, but had to take it again as the ref. wasn't ready. The second attempt was just as successful. Ed was involved again later (Man Of The Match surely), for his great save on the line. Of course he wasn't playing in goal, so conceded a penalty, but luckily stayed on the pitch, but it was all to no avail as Erskine converted the spot kick.

Sadly, more soft defending led to more goals from Erskine, including one right on full-time. Big thanks must go to the referee for cutting the second half short by 10 minutes!

We have two tough games next week and unless something dramatically improves, we are going to get spanked!
