(3) Summarising today's game obviously isn't easy, what with 11 goals - more like a rugby score than football. The main contributing factor for the high number of goals, as virtually always at this level, not so much great finishing, but poor defending. To be fair the vast majority of goals scored by either side could have been put down to this. Torres have never managed to score on previous visits to Dundonald, well they bagged four today, worrying factor for us is they didn't have many other chances, there was that good stop by Geoff and the followed up clearance off the line by Joe, but sadly all efforts, apart from a couple of long range attempts ended up in the back of the net. A more optimistic person, may reflect on 11 goals as positive, but realistically we have to look at this as a warning, that we can't continue to be this sloppy at the back. All the best managers believe in building a team from the back and this game showed just why. Before starting to whinge, maybe we should look at the positives from this game and there were plenty of them. Developing creative chances from midfield is without a doubt our strongest asset. Going forward, we looked impressive, knocking the ball around nicely, on what wasn't exactly the most luxurious of pitch's (although held up very well given the battering of rain it took in the last 24 hours). It can honestly be said that the start of the second half was for most of it a joy to watch, we were creating chance after chance. At 5-1 up you couldn't help but think this may well be a record win for us at home in the M&DSFL. We certainly should have made that more of a realistic target, but soon started to find that slipping away after Torres waltzed around the Dundonald penalty area like they owned the joint. Such a shame, especially after Leroy entertained and surprised us all for completing a very quick first half hat-trick. A hat-trick that took just 13 minutes from start to finish. One of the better hat-tricks you are likely to see, as at least 2 of the goals showed that you don't have to smack that piece of leather as hard as you can, just a gentle tickle past the keeper is all that it takes. Great to see Leroy show his true potential up front. Anyway back to the second half, after Leo and Dan M converted there chances, we did admittedly look hungry for more (which is good to see), but also seemed to forget our responsibilities at the back, Torres pulled one back, but then Damion replied almost instantly to make it 6-2. Then again Torres found it just as easy to pull another one back and it was 6-3, Richie struck a beauty from the edge of the area to make it 7-3 and then Torres got another, 2 minutes later, it seemed whatever we could do Torres could do to, as they replied to all of our last 3 goals. Luckily there were no more! After all at this point, it was starting to get a bit of a joke. From a neutrals point of view, entertaining stough. Also a much more mild mannered affair, compared to the fracas from the Hickey Cup clash last time round, which saw five get sent off! Being positive, good to see loads of goals and positive attacking play. It is also the first time that we have scored seven as DCFC at Dundonald, the old DFC last scored seven in a 7-6 win back in Christmas 1997. We will play Torres again later next month and will have to be a bit more resilient, especially as they were playing with a depleted 10 today. We obviously had similar problems starting with 10 ourselves, but this is no time for excuses. We got the three points today, but next time we might not be so lucky. See also FC Torres match report
