That orange beach ball made things interesting After last weeks poor performance, it was good to see us get back to something like our best, as we narrowly beat Euston Road. Winning close games hasn't always been our forte. This is one of the significant improvements of this season. The first half didn't exactly see us play particularly well, although unusual conditions - hard pitch and an over-inflated orange ball! - were testing. In fact we did the opposite of last week, as we went up a gear in the second half, as opposed to dropping down a gear or two. The first half wasn't exactly littered with chances, Chara was rarely tested in goal, and our efforts - few that there were, rarely tested Euston's keeper. So it was disastrous that Chara made a right blooper near the end of the half, as he flapped at a long range shot and gave Euston the lead - they couldn't believe their luck! Our best effort, saw Damien pull off a good stop from the opposing keeper. We are sadly renowned for our decadence and a defeat today, on top of last weeks mauling, would have been disastrous, but luckily we dug deep and looked a different side in the second half. Richie's double strike early into the half, has probably earned himself the golden boot for the season. The first came from Adrian's well taken free-kick, as he fired past the keeper. The second was a long range shot, which bounced off the post. Sadly, we got sloppy again, as Richie's misplaced pass and Glenn's failed clearance, led to Euston getting back in it, but we kept working well and finished off, dominating the majority of the game and from it Glenn headed home Nick's corner - it may well be his last goal / game for the club - what a way to finish your career!
Glenn (hidden behind James with the 'blue' socks) heads the winner There were a number of good performances today, Matty looked bright and made some great runs, Damien was another threat again today and there's was a little more, (although perhaps not enough) team spirit. The referee (pictured above) is always popular with the fans, bringing plenty of entertainment value to the game. He doesn't like linesman, but there again who does ? He goes by the belief that you're better off without them! However he must have left his cards at home, as there were enough incidents, such as kicking the ball away and abusive language, that shouldn't have gone unpunished. Read Euston Road's match report
