Things looked bright for us at the start of the game; we had 11 players AND 3 subs. Wow. Unfortunately this alone doesn’t guarantee a win, or a good performance. From the go we were under pressure defending admirably as corner after corner was whipped into our box.

Unfortunately your match reporter spent much of the game a pitch length away from the action playing upfront so I can’t actually remember the first goal. I’ve a feeling it was from a corner but that is just an inkling. I’m sorry, I’ve let you all down. The second goal certainly will not be forgotten as easily as it was a stunning header from a corner from our very own Richie Wall. We had to laugh otherwise we’d cry.

The game went into limbo mode for the rest of the half as neither team looked like scoring. We certainly didn’t as in order to score you have to shoot and we didn’t. Oh well the second half surely could see a rejuvenated performance from a team with a point to prove.

Unfortunately this didn’t happen as we looked about as threatening as Wayne would to Iron Mike Tyson. We just didn’t demonstrate any imagination hoofing the ball upfront every time we got a second on the ball. The only player who showed a glimmer of calm on the ball was Rob M who justifiably won man of the match for his performance in defence.

The best thing that happened to us in this game was the ref missing an obvious handball from Pete in the box. Everyone saw it, even Bharat who was halfway up the A3 looking for the ground, apart from the ref. The only chances we had (and one of these was a half chance at best) both fell to young Gary who failed to convert.

Mulladween finished the game off late on in the game with a header from one of their own players this time.

A poor performance from us overall, maybe next week we can turn up with a full team and play well. We’re halfway there.
