DUNDONALD

Dundonald started positively but weren’t able to cut through Ironside regularly enough to provide the goal scoring opportunities they thrived. When Ironside’s number nine Andy Rudge came on after his refereeing stint, his direct dribbling style was becoming a handful and turned the pressure on Dundonald which earned them a 2-0 lead in a matter of minutes. Dundonald treated this as a thoroughly needed kick up the backside and they thankfully clawed one back before the break, from an excellent Gary Lenny strike. With renewed enthusiasm and a change to a more orthodox 4-4-2 formation, Dundonald set about opening up Ironside. Gary Lenny was now up front with Leroy and was causing the opposition lots of problems which in turn meant Leroy was also becoming more of a threat. It was Leroy who scored Chase’s equaliser when an attempted cross luckily found its way over the Ironside keeper and into the net. With the pressure now on, Dundonald created a number of chances which they failed to convert until the boss Mr Hanlon switched Matty up front, which resulted with instant results, when the young Player Of The Season (last 2 years) turned on the edge of the box with a chip over the keeper, again a hint of fortune in the finish but he’ll probably tell you he meant it. Our defence is becoming our real strong point at the moment and Rob, Pete, Garry H, and new boy Colin all played very well as a unit and individually they snuffed out any problems in the final minutes.7 GAMES UNBEATEN.
