There seems to be more action off the pitch then on it, as Fergie nicks Damien's splif.

So now we can concentrate on the league. Isn't that what they usually say ? Our first taste of cup action saw us go out in extra-time to Nuwood, another side like Supertramps who are in division 7. The Edgar Hemingway Cup, saw us go out to a strong Merton Manor and now a chance to put a run in the leagues minor cup competition - the Mrs. Hickey Cup, unfortunately saw us fall at the first hurdle.

Only once, have we finished a 90 minute game, 0-0 (March 2000 v. Lind Athletic) and you would almost have put your house on the same today, with stoppage time being played and Supertramps failing to break down a resilient Dundonald defence, until a shot from long range, was blocked by Matt's leg's and was cruelly followed up, to send us packing. The referee's mouth remained open (in shock), as he said after the game "I've never seen anything like it". I think he was referring to Supertramps late winner, but you never know.

A nil nil score line would have been a more or less fair reflection on today's game. We were for the most of the game strong at the back and when we did attack, we didn't really look as if we were going to break the 'Tramps' back-line down. It was probably Ed's effort well into the second half, from long range, which was up until now, our best chance, when he forced the keeper into a bread and butter save. 'Tramps' were starting to cause us more problems coming forward, but they found that the king was back at the back and he was in no mood to make this a wasted journey. Resilient as ever, if only he could pack in his day job and come back to sunny SW19. For without him today, the late strike would just have been another one to add to the tally, as opposed to a late winner.

If great defensive performances at the back helped to keep the score line down, we should also reflect on a decision by the referee to disallow Glenn's goal for offside, with the linesman not flagging, on another day it would have stood, but that's just the way it goes.

Reflecting on the chances, we didn't have many, Kirk tried to shoot in the first half from a tight angle, which was realistically never on, Matty apparently had a shot, although some thought it was a good clearance as it went out for a throw, whilst the 'Tramps' had a number of efforts, mostly over or wide, as well as forcing Matt in goal, into a couple of decent saves.

So it's the Strollers next. They will be hungry to avenge the 5-0 defeat they suffered last month. We just need to be a little bit more hungry all round and we should be OK.
