Overcrowded with midfielders, Adrian does a good job in his new position at the back Talk about a quick transformation. After our poor performance last week, we managed to put in a top quality performance against Top Corner, although lost direction in the last 50 minute game v. Real Dundonald. At least this time round, there was little controversy. Real and Top Corner went first and Real held strong for the first half, but Top Corner raised there game and more and more mistakes were being made at the back by Real and eventually the inevitable happened and Top Corner scored. Our encounter with Top Corner saw us put in a real gutsy performance. It was even more impressive, as we went a goal down with not even a minute on the clock, as Jamie made a right blooper, passing straight to the opposition from his clearance. We battled hard though. Tom had a fantastic game at the back and Qui was also outstanding. New boy 'Tuffie' also impressed at left back and talked a good game to. It was Kirk that grabbed our goal, from Richie's lob over the top, 'Rude Stuff' ran thru and beat the advancing keeper with a great finish. However, yet again we conceded a sloppy goal from the kick-off, as Top Corner scored from virtually a nothing opportunity, right at the start of the second half. We didn't give up the fight and could easily have grabbed an equaliser, only our finishing let us down. In the final game, there didn't seem to be much passion again (recurring problem from last weeks friendly). There wasn't a lot to play for, as Top Corner had won the mini-competition and we looked tired. Richie Dallimore scored a great goal for Real, charging down the right wing, he almost effortlessly broke into the area and beat the keeper. Their second came from Kev Hunt, who this time managed to stay onside (only just) and used his power and pace to give Real a repeat scoreline from last years game. We did have a lot of possession, but sadly produced very little from it. Good to see a quick marked improvement on last week, the impetus of new players largely helped. |
